TUGUEGARAO CITY:

A 55-year-old tricycle driver died after his vehicle collided with a white closed van on the national highway in Gosi Norte in this city at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9. Police said tricycle driver Tomas Quindatan, 55, of Ballad street in Tanza village, died instantly. “He is a very kind driver. It is an accident and we pray for his soul,” his fellow driver Domingo Liggayu told The Manila Times in an interview here. Closed van driver Carl Asuncion, 22, of Lingu village in Solana, Cagayan gave himself up to the police. His tricycle was thrown away and landed upside down while the closed van hit a post after the collision. Asuncion, who was confirmed drunk based on an alcoholic breath test, encroached on the lane of Quindatan. He was placed at the Don Domingo police sub-station while a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property was lodged on Wednesday, August 10, against him.
