Solane seizes 183 illegal tanks in 1st half of 2022

SOLANE, the most trusted liquified petroleum gas (LPG) brand in the country, has conducted 14 raids in different areas of the country in the first half of the year, seizing over P406,510 worth of counterfeit and illegally refilled LPG tanks.

The raid operations were part of Solane’s efforts to prevent fire-related incidents in the Philippines by intercepting malicious sources of fake and substandard LPG products amid the proliferation of cheaper yet unsafe alternatives due to the rising cost of fuel and oil.

Prices of LPG saw an increase for three consecutive months in 2022, beginning February due to increasing international oil prices. However, LPG products saw a downward rate adjustment effective May 1.

In addition to capturing 146 counterfeit and illegal LPG tanks in the first three months of the year, Solane seized 37 tanks worth P84,400 during three raids in Camarines Sur and Albay in the month of April.

In the municipalities of Goa and Pili, Camarines Sur, Solane confiscated 32 tanks along with marked money in two separate raid operations. Meanwhile, in a raid in Tabaco City Albay, Solane seized five LPG tanks along with marked money and one six-wheeler truck van.

Earlier this year, Solane conducted 11 raids in several areas in Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, Cagayan, Sorsogon and Quirino. In 2021, it captured 1,486 tanks from malicious sources, amounting to P4,012,200.

Arrested persons and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of each local government unit for documentation and proper disposition.
