Suspects in rape-slay of 2 minors arrested

THE Bulacan police on Sunday presented to newly-installed Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar two suspects in the double murder with rape of two minors found dead in a vacant lot in Barangay Graceville in the City of San Jose del Monte last Wednesday morning.

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan police director, in his report to Eleazar, identified the arrested suspects as Romeo Ruzon, 41, married, and his stepson, 17 years old, and both neighbors of the victims.

The victims were minors, an eight-yearold boy and an 11-year-old girl from the city’s Barangay Gumaok East.

It was learned that the girl was found naked and was believed to have been raped by the suspects when found lifeless around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday.

The victims were not related but were friends and were last seen playing with each other outside their houses.

Both were hit in the head with a hard object, causing their instantaneous death, a police report said.

The next day, Thursday, Mayor Arthur Robes offered a P100,000-cash reward for any information that will lead to the immediate arrest of the suspects.

Eleazar said Ruzon was arrested in Sampaloc, Manila, while his stepson was nabbed in the City of San Jose del Monte.

The suspects are detained at the city’s detention cell facing charges of double murder with rape.
