ROBREDO SEEKS MORE JABS, COVID TESTING

NewsA2

VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo appealed for more Covid-19 testing in areas of concern in the country.

Robredo also appealed for more vaccines for these areas.

During her weekly radio show, she said vaccination of the A5 priority group has begun in Metro Manila, but there are provinces where the inoculation of the A2 group or senior citizens is still going on.

The government started its vaccination drive last March 1.

On June 16, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, said regions, “especially those in Mindanao,” will not be neglected in vaccine deployment.

“Following President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to deploy more vaccines to the regions, we will immediately send more vaccines in Mindanao as soon as the rest of the deliveries arrive this month,” Galvez assured.

The Department of Health (DoH) has flagged 36 areas of concern, 20 of which are in Visayas and Mindanao.

Dr. Alethea De Guzman of the DoH Epidemiology Bureau said the priority areas were flagged either because two-week growth rate is already high, or average daily attack rate is at red or very high levels.
