Bulacan’s Covid-19 cases dip by 43%

THE provincial government of Bulacan on Saturday announced the number of local Covid-19 cases has gone down by 43 percent.

Gov. Daniel Fernando thanked health workers and frontliners of the province for their untiring service to Bulakenyos.

“We have maintained the reduction of the number of cases. I would like to congratulate and thank our doctors and nurses, our medical frontliners and the police for that. We all are part of this achievement,” the governor said during a provincial task force Zoom meeting held last Thursday.

The result was based on the mobility week 19 to 20 — from May 8 to 22 — to mobility week 21 to 22 — from May 23 to June 5.

Fernando cited the placing of Bulacan, together with Metro Manila, on general community quarantine (GCQ) “with some restrictions” with a bit of relaxed protocols compared to the GCQ “with heightened restrictions.”

He appealed to local government units to allot more vaccination sites, apply systematic master listing and assign more vaccinators to further improve the vaccination rollout in the province to achieve herd immunity before Christmas.

According to the report of Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, PTF Response Cluster Head, only 4 percent, or 1,510, of the 37,997 total confirmed cases are active, while 94 percent, or 35,666, recovered and 2 percent, or 821, died of the disease.

Last week, the province administered a total of 208,195 doses of coronavirus vaccine, 161,607 for the first dose and 46,588 for the second dose.

As of June 17, 2021, the Provincial Health Office report on Covid-19 cases in Bulacan showed the total confirmed cases reached 38,166 with 35,765 recoveries, 1,576 active cases and 825 deaths.
