TALIBAN ATTACK ON NORTHERN AFGHAN CITY REPULSED, VEHICLE BOMBING FOILED

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan: Taliban militants’ attack on northern Afghan Kunduz city on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) has been repulsed and the militants fled away after suffering casualties, army spokesman in the northern region Capt. Abdul Razaq said. The attacking militants also attempted to explode an explosive-laden military vehicle next to a military base outside Kunduz city, but were identified and targeted by soldiers. As a result a few more militants inside the vehicle were killed. Five security personnel had been injured during the firefight, which lasted for a couple of hours. The Taliban has not made any comments.
