PDEA destroys P1.295-B illegal drugs in Cavite

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) destroyed P1.295 billion worth of assorted illegal drugs at the Integrated Waste Management Incorporated (IWMI) in Trece Martires City, Cavite on Wednesday.
PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva said the assorted illegal drugs with a total value of P1,295,050,354.65 all underwent thermal decomposition or thermolysis at IWMI.
Villanueva, meanwhile, commended the efforts of the different Regional Trial Court branches for the expeditious prosecution and disposition of drug cases that led to the prompt destruction of the illegal drugs no longer needed as evidence in court.
“We assure the public all seized illegal drugs under the custody of PDEA will be destroyed, thus allaying fears of recycling, in response to the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to immediately destroy all drug evidence.” Villanueva said.
Thermal decomposition is a process of breaking down chemical compounds by heat.
The drug evidence was attested by PDEA chemists before decomposing by burning process.
“Patuloy po ang suporta ng provincial government sa PNP and PDEA na lumalaban sugpuin ang iligal na droga sa Cavite at sa bansa. Akala ng iba ay ganun lang ang pagsugpo sa illegal drugs,” said Dr. Alvin Mojica, who represented Gov. Jonvic Remulla in the event.
“Napakahalaga po na masunog agad ang mga drugs. Maaaring pagkakakitaan pa po ito ng may mga access na maibalik sa lansangan at magbubunga ng hindi maganda.”
