Cebu Pacific ferries 1.78-M Covid vaccines nationwide

BUDGET carrier Cebu Pacific on Wednesday said it has flown over 1.78 million doses of vaccines for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to 15 provinces since March of this year.

In a statement, the Gokongweiled airline said it shipped over 125,000 doses to Cebu, Cotabato,

Dumaguete, Legazpi and Zamboanga early Wednesday.

This is on top of the more than 30,400 doses it transported to Cagayan de Oro the previous day, the 14,400 Pfizer doses it carried to Bacolod and Roxas on June 17 and the 14,480 Sinovac doses to Tuguegarao on June 18.

“We are happy to have reached another milestone in such a short period of time, which reflects significant progress in the Philippines’ vaccine distribution efforts outside NCR (National Capital Region),” Cebu Pacific Chief Strategy Officer Alex Reyes was quoted as saying in the statement.

“We are keen to keep supporting our government through the safe and timely distribution of lifesaving vaccines from abroad and across our Philippine network,” Reyes continued.

To date, Cebu Pacific said it has flown six million vaccine doses from China, on top of more than 1.78 million doses transported across the Philippines.

It added that it has delivered to 15 domestic destinations including Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Cotabato, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Masbate, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Virac and Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, the local airline noted that 31 percent of its line pilots and cabin crew have already been vaccinated.

Cebu Air Inc.’s shares slipped by 20 centavos or 0.38 percent to finish at P53 each on Wednesday.
