DAVAO CITY PREPARES FOR DELTA VARIANT

RUTH PALO

THE Davao City government is taking steps to prevent the spread of the highly transmissible Covid-19 Delta variant in the city. Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesman for the city’s Covid-19 task force, said measures were taken to ensure that the virulent variant would not spread in the city. Should there be a surge, Schlosser said the city is ready to address the situation when it comes to health care facilities. “We are prepared for it and in fact, that’s the reason why we established our own molecular lab — to test more… [We] also have additional swabbing sites and additional temporary treatment and monitoring facilities,” she said. The city tapped private physicians to help the city in attending to patients. Schlosser said they already had a meeting with the safety and security cluster to ensure the strict enforcement of border control on land, sea and air.
