DPWH completes P100M project in Bocaue

FREDERICK SILVERIO

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the P100 million worth of infrastructure project that included the construction of a three-story school building, a multipurpose covered hall, and the first track and field oval with bleachers in a public elementary school in the town of Bocaue, Bulacan.

The recipient of the project was the Congressman Erasmo Cruz Memorial Central School in Barangay Wakas.

The projects, according to District Engineer Henry Alcantara of the Bulacan First Engineering Office, were initiated by Sen. Emmanuel Joel Villanueva through the effort and initiative of the senator's sister, Mayor Joni VillanuevaTugna, who passed away last year.

"Clearing na lang then we will turn it over to Senator Villanueva for the formal inauguration. The construction period took us more than eight months and finally it's 100 percent completed," Alcantara said during his inspection visit on Thursday.

Alcantara said the project started in January, and has been completed despite the pandemic and the heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon in the month of August.

It was learned the oval is also the first rubberized track and field facility built in the province. It was one of the priority projects of the late mayor before she died in May 2020.

The construction management was undertaken by the DPWH through the senator's 2020 General Appropriation Act.
