DoST-I, DoST-FNRI with SUCs launch Malnutrition Reduction Program
tHe Department of Science and technology region 1 (DoSt-1), through the Provincial Science and technology Center (PStC) Ilocos Sur and DoStfood and Nutrition research Institute (fNrI), in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) and North Luzon Polytechnic State College (NLPSC) launched the Malnutrition reduction Program (MrP) in 12 local government units to train barangay health workers on the DoSt Package for the Improvement of Nutrition for Young Children (Pinoy) modules on Aug. 19 to 27, 2021.
A total of 225 participants comprising barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars and midwives were trained on basic nutrition concepts, safe pregnancy, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, meal planning, food safety and backyard gardening.
these learnings will be used in the implementation of the 120-day complementary feeding program that will benefit 47 undernourished kids of Candon, Quirino, Galimuyod, Salcedo, Nagbukel, Sta Cruz and Cervantes in Ilocos Sur province.
the training is part of the MrP under the Community empowerment through Science and technology Program.
