JULIA BARETTO FINALLY RETURNS TO PRIMETIME

BY IZA IGLESIAS

More than two years since her last primetime TV project, Julia Baretto is excited to return to the spotlight with a drama series titled “Di Na Muli” on TV5.

The teleserye is the actress’ first major commitment under new management. In September 2020, she left ABS-CBN’s talent management group, Star Magic, where she started her career and signed up with Viva Artist Agency.

Produced by Cignal and Sari-Sari Channel together with Viva entertainment, “Di Na Muli” tells the story of love found and lost through the eyes of Yanna (Baretto), a woman burdened predicting specific events in the future.

“Ang ganda ng pagkakasulat ng istorya, ang ganda ng pagkadirek ni Direk Andoy [ranay,] ang ganda ng vision ng production, and ang ganda ng casting ng show,” the 24-yearold Barreto of the famous showbiz clan of fierce and beautiful women enthused in a virtual press conference.

Her good friend Marco Gumabao has been cast as her leading man in the series, and already, their tandem is making waves on social media, where they are regularly seen in vlogs.

“Julia and I have been friends for so long, but it’s our first time to work together,” shared Marco, who was also at the interview. “Of course, on and off the set, it’s been a breeze with Julia, so it’s been really easy for us to build chemistry.”

Calling Baretto “one of the best actresses of our generation,” Gumabao added, “Working with her, you really tend to learn a lot.”

Barretto returned her leading man’s compliments when she noted how he’s already worked with a who’s who of top actresses in the country, among them Sharon Cuneta, Lovi Poe, Kylie Verzosa and Anne Curtis.

“Iba din yung Marco na makikita niyo dito actually, kasi I think in the past, he’s been more daring there. Here, [his role] challenges him more as actor than a heartthrob or a matinee idol. Ang lalim ng mga emotion namin dito that’s why I’m more proud of kay Marco kasi yung role niya dito, mabigat,” she added.

Premiering on tV5 tonight, “Di Na Muli” also stars Marco Gallo, Angelu De Leon, Bobby Andrews and Baron Geisler. It is a weekly series that simultaneously airs every Saturday at 8 p.m. on cable via Cignal tV’s Sari Sari (Channel 3 and SatLite Channel 30) and live or on-demand on the Cignal Play app.
