FORMER senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th on Saturday encouraged supporters and volunteers of presidential aspirant Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo to be extra vigilant on lies proliferated through the internet.

Robredo’s political strategist and campaign manager, Aquino, in an online meeting organized by The Heroes Overseas Tropa, Filipino Overseas for Leni and Kiko, and Leni for President Movement, urged netizens to report fake news to social media sites and computer application owners so they can rectify the incorrect information.

Aquino said removing fake news like manipulated images and fabricated articles online is a tedious process but necessary in spreading the truth.

He also emphasized the need to fact-check before sharing messages online, noting that some supporters are overly enthusiastic in sharing and commenting on social media to their detriment.

Aquino said that Robredo is surrounded by qualified individuals supportive of her policies on health, education, economy, defense and other pertinent areas.

He said that while Robredo’s main campaign headquarter is not permitted to accept financial support, benefactors can donate to volunteer groups such as the Team Leni Robredo.
