DA distributes seeds to farmers

PILILLA, Rizal: Local farmers received sacks of hybrid and inbred seeds from the Department of Agriculture Region 4A (Calabarzon) and the local government on Thursday.

The seedlings were part of the Tulong-Pangkabuhayan program of the national and local government to the farmer groups such as the Hulo Irrigators Farmers Association, Wawa-Pulo Farmers Association, Quisao-San Antonio Farmers Association, Barak na Bata Farmers Association and Lamuan Farmers Association.

Officials from the local government led the distribution of the seeds to the farmers groups recently.

A hybrid seed comes from crossing two different varieties of the same plant.

The seeds that form the fruit are the hybrid seeds They are listed as F1 types, as opposed to open pollinated types. Open pollinated seeds result from a simple sharing of pollen between two like parent plants.
