WILLIAM RUSSEL M. SCHEIRMAN, JR.

construction firm of their own. Sometime after, William sold his shares and set up Scheirman Construction Consolidated, Inc. He was 21 years old.

It turned out that securing projects was not as difficult as getting support from financial institutions. He says: “Nachallenge ako [I was challenged] when I was trying to get my first credit line at the bank, dahil alam talaga edad mo [since they know your true age],” the young entrepreneur reflects. “I only got my first credit line at 25.”

This affected landing big opportunities since competitors in the industry were older and more experienced. “If I wanted to be big in the industry, I needed capital to do so, and I needed capital to support the project,” he explains. “We are anchored in customer experience. We listen to our customers, and we’re here to serve and give value to them.”

Nevertheless, William believes that consistent quality work is what keeps the business going. In 2018, SCCI flourished. William was able to win more and more projects, among them Santorini Estates (with developer Axeia Development Corporation), ACCS Elisco showroom and the Nissan Taytay showroom (with Autohub Group of Companies) and the IBC 13 headquarters (with PrimeHomes Inc.).

SCCI was also involved in the construction of Batangas Healthcare Specialist Medical Center, of which, William is a stockholder.

William adds that SCCI employs the concept of vertical integration, in which two or more stages of production, typically handled by separate companies, are combined in one company. This, he elaborates, aids in providing value for his clients.

“We’re trying to control all aspects of the supply chain in the construction industry,” he declares. “Para mapababa namin ‘yung price, mapaganda namin ‘yung quality at mapabilis namin ‘yung turnover [So, we can lower the price, enhance the quality and shorten the turnover time].”
