ROBREDO SUPPORTERS TOLD: RESPECT BBM, SARA WINS

LEANDER C. DOMINGO

A FORMER special adviser of the National Task Force on Covid-19 has called on “Leni supporters” to respect presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and presumptive vice president Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio for winning in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Anthony Leachon, a physician-leader, said in a social media post, “The people have spoken. Let’s respect BBM and Sara for winning.”

A staunch supporter of Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, Leachon has also apologized to all Leni supporters for his decision to move on after Monday’s elections.

“I’m sorry to have disappointed you, all Leni supporters, for [my] deciding to move on after

Election Day… I know you don’t want to accept defeat. But I’m not you. I know when to quit. I fought really hard for Leni,” he said.

Leachon added that his brother congressman Doy Leachon and son board member Mikan Leachon also stood for Leni and that by doing so, they lost for the first time.

“It’s painful to see your friends desert you during this tumultuous time and hurl painful words to add insult to injury,” he said.

“With [greater than ] 98 [percent] of nationwide election returns counted, all presidential candidates conceded including the brave and feisty Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes 4th [and] that speaks volumes,” Leachon added.

“We want national healing. We have lost the value of humility. Generally, you can be humble only if you feel really good about yourself, and you want to help those around you feel really good about themselves, too,” he said.

Leachon also lamented that he was constantly maligned and attacked by BBM trolls and that his family wants inner peace, focus on family and work, and mental health stability.

“[O]n election day, the people have spoken. So we have decided to move on. It’s our decision to refocus our energy on things that really matter. If you disagree, it’s fine with me. I can understand,” he said, adding it is time to bury the hatchet and move forward.
