Policemen to receive midyear bonus

BY FRANCIS EARL CUETO

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Officer in Charge LtGen. Vicente Danao Jr. announced on Thursday the release of the annual midyear bonus of 222,787 PNP personnel amounting to P7,321,377.087. “The dedicated funds are from the regular PNP appropriations itemized under the organization’s budget this year,” Danao said.

PNP Finance Service Director BGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez

Jr. said the midyear bonus, equivalent to a one-month salary, will be released to PNP personnel on May 17 through their Landbank of the Philippines ATM payroll accounts

Pursuant to the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law, any pay that will exceed P90,000 will be subjected to withholding tax.

“This financial benefit is one of the many ways to recognize the dedication and hard work of our men and women at the PNP. While it is true that our service to the country is priceless, the government finds it fitting to provide its employees with incentives on top of their regular salaries,” Danao said.

Danao, however, added that erring policemen found guilty of administrative and/or criminal cases by final and executory judgment for fiscal year 2022 were not entitled to receive the midyear bonus.
