UNDEFEATED John Michael “Striker” Zulueta of Calatrava, Negros Occidental, arrived in Thailand on Thursday, May 12, ahead of his May 14 comeback fight against Indonesian Jack Amisa at the RCA Plaza in Bangkok.

“My opponent is a veteran fighter but I’m not taking him for granted,” the 26-year-old Zulueta, who is unbeaten in 13 fights with four knockout wins and two draws, said.

His Indonesian opponent is 35 years old and has logged 73 professional bouts with 21 wins, 49 losses and 3 draws.

Zulueta, who is managed by former Games and Amusements Board chairman Juan Ramon Guanzon, arrived in Bangkok with trainer Nelson Arellano.

He currently weighs 112 pounds, just four pounds over the light flyweight limit.

“I will do my best to win,” Zulueta, who recently sparred with Rodel Sioco (4-0, 2KOs) and Ricky delos Santos (2-10) in Bacolod, said.

In his last fight, Zulueta retired Mark Anthony Florida of Bukidnon in the fourth round to win both the vacant

ABF light flyweight title and vacant International Boxing Federation Asia light flyweight crown on Sept. 7, 2019 in Taguig City.

He has not fought since the Covid-19 pandemic. Zulueta, however, said he is now ready to get back in the ring and bring his boxing career back on track.
