PALACE TEAM PREPARES TRANSITION FOR NEW ADMIN

BY KRISTINA MARALIT

THE Palace has created a committee to ensure the smooth transition for the next administration by the end of June.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, in his report to President Rodrigo Duterte, said that the Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) which he heads will oversee the transition activities of the government and see to it that the delivery of services to the public continues.

The PTC was formed via Administrative Order 47 earlier issued by the Chief Executive.

“In the past few weeks, we have been preparing for the transition of the government to the next administration,” Medialdea said in a pre-recorded public briefing aired Thursday.

“We will work closely with the representatives of the incoming administration to ensure a peaceful and orderly transfer of power.

Since we still have no proclaimed winner, official talks need to be put on hold for the moment. But preparation on our end needs to begin. We, after all, have more work to do,” he added.

Members of the PTC include Medialdea, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez 3rd, Budget Undersecretary Tina Rose Canda, and National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Karl Chua.

The committee will ensure that all departments, bureaus and agencies of the government will have their own internal transition committees in time for the transfer of power on June 30 to the next president, presumably former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Marcos is way ahead of his rivals in the polls, tallying more than 31 million votes in the unofficial canvassing.

“We assure the public that within the coming weeks, the entire executive branch will continue to perform its duties but be ready to turn over the reins of power to the next president. It is the goal of the PTC to ensure a smooth and seamless transition while ensuring the continued and efficient delivery of public services,” Medialdea said.
