Wilcon Depot opens 76th store in Batangas

BY AARON RONQUILLO

WILCON Depot, the Philippines’ leading home improvement and construction supply retailer, successfully opened its 76th store in the country in Lemery, Batangas on May 27.

The store offers a variety of topof-the-line products and home solutions with the highest quality standards, innovative and sustainable features to all Batangueños.

The Lemery outlet serves as the company’s fourth store in Batangas province. Wilcon first entered the province in 2010 with the opening of Wilcon Depot Batangas City. This was followed by the opening of another two branches at Lipa City in 2018 and Santo Tomas City in 2019.

The launching of Wilcon Depot Lemery branch started with a motorcade along the nearby barangay (villages) participated by numerous valued suppliers and industry partners. At around 11:15 a.m., there was a lion dance and a blessing that preceded the ribboncutting ceremony.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Wilcon Depot President and Chief Executive Officer Lorraine Belo-Cincochan, together with the local government officials of Batangas led by Mayor Geraldine Ornales, Batangas First District Rep. Eileen Buhain and former Olympian now Congressman-elect for the first district of Batangas Eric Buhain.

During a short program following the ribbon-cutting and blessing, Belo-Cincochan thanked everyone who attended the event and thanked everyone for continuing to patronize Wilcon Deport for their home improvement needs.

She also emphasized the company’s role in helping build and rebuild communities, especially those affected by the recent eruptions of Taal Volcano, where Wilcon Depot was heavily involved in the rebuilding efforts.

“We’re here to be part of the community . . . we employ people in the area . . . so this is part of our plans to help the community where we are in,” she said.

For her part, Ornales thanked Wilcon Depot for opening another branch in Batangas, echoing what Belo-Cincochan said it provided more employment opportunities to the residents of the city, including those living in the adjacent locales.

Speaking in Filipino, she also said the presence of Wilcon Depot also helped bring in more revenue to the city, most especially Barangay Malinis, where it is located.

Wilcon Depot now has 18 branches in Metro Manila and 58 stores in key cities and municipalities of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and are planning to open nine more stores this year.

“We want to grow and reach a hundred stores,” said Belo-Cincochan, adding they aim to meet that goal by 2025.
