NU looks to extend unbeaten run

NIEL VICTOR C. MASOY

NATIONAL University (NU) faces Ateneo de Manila University in a bid to extend its winning run to nine games in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

Game is set for 4 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs have won all their eight games in the tournament including their 25-21, 25-20, 25-17 win over De La Salle University on Thursday.

NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan said he didn’t expect his team to be 8-0 at this point, as all he and his team have been doing is to prepare and let go of the result.

“First of all, we didn’t expect this because as a team we just prepare well. We don’t think of the outcome. What matters to us is we learn in every game, every training,” he said.

Against La Salle, the trio of Ces Robles, Bella Belen, and Camille Lamina came through to lead NU and they’re expected to rise to the occasion once more against the Blue Eagles.

Ateneo is coming off a bounce back 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 win over Far Eastern University (FEU) also on Thursday.

Blue Eagles head coach Oliver Almadro was thankful for the victory that gave them a 4-4 record for a share of fourth place with University of the Philippines (UP) and Adamson University.

Meanwhile, University of the East (0-8) and Adamson (4-4) face each other at 10 a.m to open the curtains, while UP and the University of Santo Tomas lock horns at 12:30 p.m.

After the NU-Ateneo match, FEU and La Salle collide at 6:30 p.m. to cap off the day.
