A WOMAN was found dead inside an inn in Davao City on Sunday evening. Police investigators said she was strangled to death by her boyfriend who surrendered to authority.

The victim was identified as Joan Balabagan Lintang, 30, a resident of Barangay Malongon, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

The suspect was identified as Melarry Betil Gumanan, 35, jobless, a resident of Purok Marang, Barangay Tacul, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

The police said the couple checked in at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, at the D’Morvie Suits in Barangay 35-D in Davao City.

At around 11:35 p.m. of the same day, the San Pedro Police Station in Davao City received a cellphone call from the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station in Davao del Sur informing that Gumanan voluntary submitted himself for custody and admitted to killing his fiancee.

Further investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect had a heated argument after their planned wedding was called off, which led to Gumanan strangling Lintang.
