P1.4-M marijuana seized from accident victims

TUBA, Benguet: More than P1.4 million worth of marijuana were recovered from two suspects who figured in a vehicular accident along Kennon Road, in Camp 4, here on Sunday.

THE POLICE IDENTIfiED THE ARRESTED suspects as Jimmsie Galang Salazar, 40, resident of Bacoor, Cavite, and Justine Jerome Baisa, 28, resident of San Mateo, Rizal.

Earlier, the suspects were injured when their vehicle’s brake malfunctioned which caused their pickup to flIP AND TURN TURTLE.

When personnel from the Kennon Road Police Station (PS8) arrived on the scene, a resident of the said place tipped the police that a box was stashed by the two suspects in a grassy part along the river.

Upon checking the surrounding area, 12 tubes of dried marijuana leaves weighing more or less 12,000 grams with a standard drug price of P1,440,000 were discovered.

The suspects were immediately arrested.

Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the suspects and duly witnessed by village councilor Domingo Wayan of Camp Four and Dionisio Dennis Jr., a media representative.

The arrested suspects, who earlier refused to be brought to a hospital, AND THE CONfiSCATED PIECES OF EVIdence were brought to the custody of Tuba Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
