Body of drowned man in Morong recovered

MORONG, Bataan: The body of the man who drowned and reported missing on Saturday was recovered on Sunday at a local beach resort here, the Philippine Coast Guard Sabang substation reported Monday.

PO1 Edward John Lazaro, commander of Coast Guard substation in Sabang, Morong, said that a lifeguard informed them that a human body was found flOATING NEAR THE BEACH RESORT ON Sunday afternoon.

Lazaro said the body turned out to be the remains of Shalom Miranda, 24, of Caloocan City, who was the object of search and rescue operations on Saturday.

SN2 Rhenantee Hernandez said that a relative reported that Miranda was swimming at another beach resort in Nagbalayong on Saturday when the victim was caught by strong waves and drowned.

Hernandez said that upon receipt of information on the drowning victim, a Coast Guard team was dispatched and conducted shoreline patrol of the coastal area of Nagbalayong, but their search failed to retrieve the body.

He said they temporarily stopped searching on Saturday evening and resumed the following day.

Members of the Maritime Morong Monitoring Team, Morong Municipal Police Station, the Special Action Force, and the Metro Bataan Development Authority also joined the search for Miranda’s body.
