COVID DEATH BENEFICIARIES IN BULACAN GET CASH AID

FREDERICK SILVERIO

THE provincial government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) distributed P30,000 in cash assistance to the families of the 441 Covid-19 fatalities for a total of P13.230 million at the Capitol Gymnasium on Wednesday, August 3.

PSWDO head Rowena Tiongson said the cash assistance was personally handed over to the families of Covid death victims by Gov. Daniel Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis Castro.

Fernando said the Covid-19 cases in Bulacan are still increasing, so Bulakenyos should not be complacent.

An Aug. 3, 2022 report of the Bulacan Provincial Health Office showed that the province recorded 1,401 Covid-19 active cases with a total of 112,103 verified cases while recovered patients reached 108,969 and fatalities were at 1,733.

The City of Malolos has the highest number of active cases followed by the City of San Jose del Monte with 201 cases, Sta. Maria with 109, and 79 cases in Baliuag town.

In a report by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis to the governor, she stated that the province has administered a total of 5,906,570 Covid vaccine shots.

She said a total of 743,381 booster shots had been administered of which 675,047 were first booster shots and 68,334 were second booster shots.

It was learned that 2,518,217 or 83.55 percent of the eligible population are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Fernando again called on Bulakenyos to get additional Covid-19 shots, citing the upward trend in the number of positive cases.

The Bulacan Medical Center is implementing an appointment system to avoid influx of patients in the outpatient department and to prevent them from exposing each other to the possibility of spreading the virus.
