Emperador revenues up 11% in H1

BY ED PAOLO SALTING

EMPERADOR Inc. announced consolidated revenues of p28 billion for the first half OF 2022, driven by a 9.5-percent increase in brandy sales and a significant improvement IN its whisky brands of 13 percent.

The increase in sales volume led to a reported net income of P5.3 billion for the same period despite the global economic turmoil that caused supply chain disruptions and higher cost of inputs due to inflationary pressures.

The scotch whisky segment’s increased revenues was the result of the higher sales volume of single malt scotch brands, which accounted for 83 percent of branded sales.

The brandy segment grew its first-half consolidated revenues by 10 percent year on year to P17.9 billion due to its strong secondquarter performance attributable to an increase in global sales despite distribution and logistical challenges.

Emperador President Winston Co said, “After back-toback banner performances in 2020 and 2021, our company continues to deliver growth despite supply chain challenges and increase in input costs. Our international business continued to perform well led by the single malt whisky portfolio, which continues to be among the fastest-growing single malts in the world.”

“Growth continued to be strong in Asia, Europe and North America. Overall, we are looking forward to stronger second-half performance. Meanwhile, to further strengthen our international business, we are exploring a joint-venture in China. Our focus on China is part of our internationalization strategy,” Co added.

Emperador Inc. owns the multi-awarded Fundador Spanish Brandy de Jerez, and Whyte and Mackay, the world’s fifth-largest Scotch whisky producer. Emperador brandy and whisky products are available in more than 100 countries.
