TPort of Tagpopongan. HE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) created Special Take-over Units (STU) for busy ports with no existing cargo handling and terminal operators.

This is to ensure the seamless movement of goods and guarantee safe, convenient, affordable, and world-class port facilities and services.

This is consistent with the marching order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to benchmark all ports to global standards and best practices. The move also adheres to the directive of Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista to improve the port industry and its services to benefit passengers and shippers while maintaining affordable port-related charges.

For this month alone, the PPA created the STU for the ports of Babak and Tagpopongan under the Port Management of Davao. Evaluation is also underway for similarly situated ports nationwide.
