Bataan town fire leaves P1M damage

MARIVELES, Bataan: Fire hit a commercial building and stalls along the national road in a barangay (village) here on Thursday morning, leaving damage estimated at more than one million pesos.

LtCol. Emelito de la Cruz, Mariveles police chief, said the fire started at 9:10 in the morning and damaged the ACJ disco bar and one tricycle of Edita Avila, residential stall of Orlando Avila, two water refilling stalls of Mary Rose Avila and three rice stalls of dealer Melody Avila.

Orlando, Mary Rose and Melody are children of Edita, all of Barangay Balon Anito, Mariveles.

The fire was put under control at 10:17 of the same morning.

No one was injured in the fire, de la Cruz said.

Balon Anito village councilor Jimel Ocampo appealed for assistance for six families of 35 individuals, including workers, affected by the fire.
