NPA units in Davao Region destroyed

DAVAO CITY: A total of six communist New People’s Army (NPA) units in Davao Region had been destroyed by Joint Task Force (JTF) Agila during the third quarter of 2022.

This was reported by JTF Agila during its campaign progress review and assessment at Datu Balunto Hall, Camp General Manuel T. Yan Senior in Mawab, Davao de Oro, on Wednesday, October 5.

The six NPA units, according to the report from the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division, were dismantled from July to September 2022.

These are Sub-Regional Committee 1, SRC 2, SRC 4, SRC 5, Guerrilla Front 18 and Regional Sentro de Grabidad of the Regional Operations Command, all under the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.

In the same period, the JTF Agila also recorded seven encounters that resulted in the neutralization of 59 NPA rebels.

Seven of the rebels were killed and two captured and 50 surrendered.

A total of 47 firearms composed of 44 high-powered and three low-powered firearms were also recovered and captured by the government forces.

JTF Agila commander Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin congratulated all members of the task force for the victories it has achieved in its area of responsibility and subsequently delivered his command guidance.

“Always remember that everything we have done is for the safety of the people and the betterment of the communities within our area of responsibility,” Mempin said in a statement.

He encouraged the public to continue contributing to attain goals in the fight against the communist insurgency with utmost zeal and commitment.

Mempin also urged his personnel to maintain its professionalism and dedication to duty as they continue to be loved by the people.
