LINGAYEN, Pangasinan: A total of 808 students of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) on Wednesday, October 5, received P10,000 each in financial grants as provincial government scholars for school year (SY) 2021-2022.

The students belonged to the first batch of the 1,746 scholars for SY 2021-2022.

The second batch will receive their financial grant on October 7.

Vice Gov. Mark Ronald Lambino congratulated the scholars and encouraged them to continue learning.

“Education is perhaps the only legacy that your parents can give you that cannot be taken away from you,” Lambino said.

He added that his father, former presidential adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino, had always told him that one’s education will be the most precious asset one will have in the future.

“And that is also the mindset that I’d like to instill in all scholars here. Do not waste the opportunity for you to be able to study,” the vice governor said.

Of the 1,745 scholars, 660 or 37.93 percent have already graduated this SY 2021-2022.

Of the 660, 13 of them graduated magna cum laude, 36 graduated cum laude and 208 graduated with academic distinction.

The first batch of scholars who have received their financial grants come from PSU Asingan (151), PSU Binmaley (81), PSU San Carlos City (220), PSU Urdaneta City (206) and PSU Santa Maria (150).
