FILIPINO Japanese golf sensation Yuka Saso finished joint sixth in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions (ToC) at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida on Monday (Manila time).

Saso carded two-under-par 70 in the fourth and final round for an aggregate of eight-under-par 280 in the 2023 LPGA season-opening tournament.

The 2021 US Women’s Open champion pocketed a prize of $56,117 or more than P3 million.

Saso got a favorable start in the frontside as she drained an eagle on the second hole and a birdie on the ninth against just one bogey on the seventh.

The 21-year-old continued her steady game, birdying the 11th and 15th holes that put her four-under.

Saso, however, encountered turbulence as she hit back-to-back bogeys from the 16th hole before parring the last to finish two-under.

The pride of San Ildefonso, Bulacan started the tourney with a twounder-par 70, one-overpar 73 in the second round, and five-underpar 67 in the third before another two-under-par 70 in the last round.

Brooke Henderson posted a wire-to-wire victory with her aggregate of 16-under-par 272, eight shots ahead of Saso. The Canadian also bagged $225,000 or about P12.2 million.

Swedish Maja Stark and English Charley Hull placed joint second with their identical 12-underpar 276s. Stark and Hull pocketed a price of $152,898 each or around P8.3 million each.
