FIBER broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. announced it has met its 2 million fiber port rollout target for 2022. Based on the end-November report of Converge, the company has extended its fiber footprint to more than 613,000 kilometers, consisting of subsea, aerial and terrestrial fiber optic cable networks all over the country. “Converge continues to expand its nationwide network reach to efficiently deliver consumer network demands and empower Filipinos across urban and rural areas. With this record deployment of ports, we are ensuring high availability in more areas around the country,” Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge co-founder and chief executive officer, stated. Converge also reported it has increased its port deployment in the National Capital Region including Rizal, North Luzon, Central Luzon and also extended to Mindanao. They also maintained an aggressive rollout in the Visayas to achieve growth opportunities in the region. Uy noted that Converge is on track to reach its accelerated target to cover approximately 55 percent of households in the Philippines by 2023, with its household coverage at 53 percent and have allocated P21 billion to P23 billion in total capital expenditure for 2022. They also reached more than 14.3 million homes as of Sept. 30, 2022. “Achieving our fiber rollout target is very much important for us to ensure that our resources are utilized effectively, and to also support the growth of our residential subscriber base,” Uy remarked. With having deployed more than 2 million fiber ports in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, Converge stated this increases the firm’s position as the largest fiber-tothe-home network in the Philippines.
