1,573 pass board exams for physicians

A STUDENT of the Mariano Marcos State University-Batac (MMSU) topped this year’s licensure exams for physicians, the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) reported Friday.

The commission said 1,573 out of 2,887 examinees passed, for a passing rate of 54.49 percent.

The exams were held on March 5, 6, 12, and 13 in testing centers in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

Aira Cassandra Suguitan Castro of MMSU was the top-notcher with 89 percent. The other examinees in the top 10:

2. Philip Patrick Petelo Lee, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 88.58 percent,

3. Johanna Willeen Go, University of Santo Tomas (UST), 88.25 percent,

4. John Kevin Base, University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMC), 88 percent,

5. Anthony Acenas, University of Cebu College of Medicine Foundation - Mandaue and Isabella Cheng Del Castillo, UST, 87.67 percent,

6. Psylah Trisha Caminos, Davao Medical School Foundation, 87.08 percent,

7. Zedrik Ortiz, Xavier University, 87 percent.

8. Jumela Mica Bautista, University of the Philippines (UP)-Manila and E. Marcus Cezar Damasco, UERMMC, 86.92 percent,

9. Carl Angelo Memoria Hofileña, Western Visayas State University - La Paz and Anna Katrina Manzano, University of Perpetual Help System Laguna, 86.83 percent

10. Claire Marie Jacinto, UP-Manila, 86.67 percent.

UST was the top performing school in the exam, with 51 of 61 examinees passing, or an equivalent of 83.61 percent. The PRC said the registration for the issuance of professional identification cards and certificates of registration will be done online on April 20, April 24-28, May 2-5 and May 8.

The commission has not yet set a date for the oath-taking of the new doctors.

On a Facebook post, MMSU congratulated its five examinees, led by Castro, for achieving a 100-percent passing rate.

Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos and Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc also sent their congratulations to Castro.
