AIRPORT authorities arrested a suspected large-scale illegal recruiter for allegedly facilitating the trafficking of an undisclosed number of individuals to Cambodia.

In a statement on Friday, the International Airport Investigation Division of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) identified the suspect as Mona Almerah Kozay Teleban.

The NBI said they were tipped off of the group’s flight to Cambodia via Singapore where they were allegedly recruited to work for an offshore gaming company. Immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 intercepted the group and prevented them from leaving the country.

The suspect, who was allegedly with the group, was arrested and turned over to NBI agents who took her to the Pasay City Prosecutors Office for inquest.

The suspect was indicted for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the “Anti-Trafficking of Persons Act of 2003” and the large-scale illegal recruitment provision of RA 8042 or the “Migrant Workers Act of 1995.”
