Zamboanga undertakes more projects for women

THE city government of Zamboanga brings services to women as part of its continuous support in advancing women’s rights not just for this month.

Zamboanga City has opened the Women’s Fair and Conference on Monday, March 27, that will run until Thursday, March 30, at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga Activity Area.

“Different national and local government agencies come together for this 3-day fair that will help promote health and wellness to all women including all genders in the society,” it said.

The said event also provides free civil registration, legal services, online assistance, and the issuance of police clearance, among others.

As for health, the city government of Zamboanga opens health services including free cervical/ breast screening, HIV/AIDS testing, family planning, and wellness services like free haircuts, manicures, pedicures and massages.

Moreover, there are also services and training. It covers mental health, digital technology, and livelihood training from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and agricultural sessions on the Department of Agriculture’s Kadiwa program that aims to have a direct and effective farm-to-consumer food supply, most especially for women.

It also features the agricultural products of Zamboanga like fish and fish products, processed fruit, coconut-based products, shell and rubber manufacturers, and wooden furniture.

United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson expressed continuous partnership with the Philippines to support women, especially in business.

“The United States is honored to partner with the Philippines to support women in MSM (micro, small and medium) businesses,” Carlson added.

“Women play a crucial role in achieving these strategic priorities and actions. Over the years, they have proven their great potential, especially in business and industry,” Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said.
