Positano Mactan: Italian seaside living in Cebu

PROPERTY giant Megaworld Corp. has launched its sixth residential condominium project inside the 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu province: the Positano Mactan.

“This residential project is inspired by the elegance and beauty of the picturesque Italian seaside destination off the Amalfi Coast that carries the same name,” says Jennifer Palmares-Fong, first vice president for sales and marketing at Megaworld Visayas.

“We continue to see an overwhelming demand for living spaces here at The Mactan Newtown, which is why we have chosen to offer this [project] to further highlight the island vibe and the exciting lifestyle that residents have come to love in this masterplanned township,” she adds.

Designed by acclaimed architectural and design firm Casas+Architects Inc., the 17-story Positano Mactan will have a façade that pays homage to and offers a distinct impression of what the real Positano is like through its earthy colors: beige, warm white, light yellow and terracotta red.

To rise near the city’s historic Lapu-Lapu Shrine, Positano Mactan will feature two floors designated as retail areas, whose design is inspired by the Italian town’s vibrant public markets.

Inside, future residents will be welcomed at a lobby with a high ceiling and adorned with Mediterranean tiles, decorative plates and pots that reflect the vibrancy of Positano’s exceptional arts and crafts.

‘Smart home’ units

Positano Mactan will offer 301 “smart home” units of different types: Studio (up to 33 square meters), Executive Studio (41 sq m), One bedroom (up to 51.5 sq m), Executive One Bedroom (up to 61 sq m), Two Bedroom (up to 78 sq m), and Three Bedroom (up to 141 square meters).

The project will also offer other unit types that will be seen for the first time at The Mactan Newtown: One Bedroom Loft (up to 81.5 sq m), Two Bedroom Loft (136.5 sq m), Three Bedroom Bi-Level (up to 166 sq m), Three Bedroom Loft (189.5 sq m), and Three Bedroom Loft with

Terrace (up to 264.5 sq m).

Each unit will have cooktop burners, but the two- and threebedroom units will each have built-in ovens, too. Split-type air-conditioning units will be standard in the living and dining areas of all units.

Each unit will also be equipped with a wireless smart home system that residents can access and control remotely via a smartphone app. The units will also have smart home devices with wireless-fidelity routers, video intercom and standby backup power for selected areas.

On the fifth level, residents can enjoy several top-notch amenities, including an adult infinity pool, wet lounge and pool deck, children’s pool with water play, and cabanas. There will also be a reading nook; an outdoor fitness area; a children’s playground; a daycare center; a bi-level game room; a gym equipped with lockers and male and female toilets and changing rooms; and a highceiling, pillar-less function room with outdoor spillover area that can hold up to 90 guests.

Positano Mactan will have a lofttype private dining room equipped with a full working kitchen; dining and lounge furniture that can accommodate up to 18 people; and eight terrazas, or sky lounges — found on the 14th and 16th floors — with flowering shrubs, vines, medium-sized trees

and mini statues where residents can gather and relax.

From the comfort of their units, residents can enjoy lovely views of Magellan Bay, the Hilutungan Channel, nearby islands, and the rest of The Mactan Newtown.

‘Green’-minded

Eco-friendly features will be integrated into Positano Mactan: energy-generating outdoor fitness equipment; low flow rate fixtures to promote water conservation; occupancy sensors in hallways and parking floors that help conserve energy; LED lights; a rainwater-harvesting system; and materials recovery facility.

Megaworld expects to generate sales of about P2 billion from Positano Mactan, which is scheduled for completion in 2028.

Currently, The Mactan Newtown hosts more than 2,000 residential condominium units from nine existing towers and two soon-to-rise projects, and nearly 81,000 square meters of gross leasable office spaces.

The township also features two hotels operated by Megaworld Hotels & Resorts: the 18-story Savoy Hotel Mactan and the 20-story Belmont Hotel Mactan. Together, they have 1,097 rooms.

Also in the township is the La Sallian-supervised Newtown School of Excellence Inc. It will soon be joined by a convention center, museum and two-level “beach mall” for the enjoyment of visitors.
