SEN. Christopher Lawrence “bong” Go on Wednesday led a relief operation for fire victims in Sta. Cruz, manila. Go and his team distributed grocery packs, vitamins, face masks and shirts to Q,R0Q recipients at the Manuel L. Quezon University basketball court. Selected individuals were given bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, watches, as well as balls for basketball and volleyball. Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were also present during the event to give financial assistance to families affected by the fire. Go is the primary author of Republic Act 11589 or the “Bureau of Fire Protection (bFP) modernization Act” that mandates the implementation of a ten-year BFP modernization program. The program includes the acquisition and upgrading of fire fighting equipment, recruitment of more personnel and holding of specialized training for firefighters among others.
