Regada Water Festival in Cavite City is back

CAVITE CITY: The Regada Water Festival will be back for a weeklong celebration from June 17 to 24 in the historic City of Cavite.

The festival was suspended for three years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It marks the Feast of St. John the Baptist.

The Cavite City government under the leadership of Mayor Denver Chua and the Department of Tourism here laid out a weeklong program full of fun that will start on June 17, with a kickoff party along the Julian Felipe monument to McDonald’s Ronquillo at 4 p.m.

Highlights of the festival will be witnessed on June 24, the Feast Day of St. John the Baptist, along P. Burgos Avenue (Regada Street) at 7 a.m., with sprinklers lining up a two-kilometer stretch of city streets.

Also scheduled are LGBTQ and Parade of Lights on June 18 from Ladislaw Diaw Elementary School at 4 p.m.; Juego Caviteño (Palarong Caviteño) on June 19 at Samonte Park grounds; Exhibicion del Artes Caviteño on June 20 at Samonte Park covered court; Coastal Clean-up Drive with Binibining Pilipinas candidates; cooking contest at Cavite City Public Market at 3 p.m.; comedy night show at Padre Pio on June 22 at 7 p.m.; and Basayawan dance tilt on June 23 at Montano Hall track oval at 2 p.m.

There will also be a Sayaw-Juan Sayaw Alay at San Juan dance blast with P10,000 cash prize for 1st place, P7,000 cash for 2nd place, 5,000 for 3rd place winners and P1,000 for each competing group on June 24.

It is estimated that more than 100,000 individuals, including local and foreign tourists, will participate in the water festival, which started in 1996.
