SUNSHINE Place brings back its porcelain painting class starting June 1 every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with two sessions: from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The class will be conducted by Mee Lee Casey, who will share her 33 years of knowledge and training in the craft. Learning from various countries, UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, she brings the new art form in the Philippines, hence the first of its kind in the country.

Teresita Colayco, who has been a student of porcelain painting under Mee Lee Casey, said the class was so much fun. “I love making art through porcelain painting, especially the way Lao Shie Mee Lee teaches it,” she added.

The class is for beginners. Students will learn the process of hand painting porcelain such as materials orientation, pen work, mixing of paints and firing the plates in the kiln.

They will also learn the different techniques in porcelain painting such as wipe out, tactile finger, and brush techniques.

Porcelain painting refers to the art of decorating glazed porcelain objects such as bowls, plates and vases. It was first developed in China.
