WITH the Philippines’ “Destination of the Year” and “4th Most Desirable Place for Adventure” awards, the Department of Tourism (DoT) is expecting that more positive developments are forthcoming for the country’s tourism industry.
TripZilla, Southeast Asia’s leading digital travel company, named the Philippines the Destination of the Year at its ninth TripZilla awards.
TripZilla cites the Philippines not only for its major tourist destinations but also for its off-the-beatenpath tourist choices suitable for all travel preferences. They assert that the country’s different tourist offerings keep people returning.
Also, during its 22nd Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, travel magazine Wanderlust named the Philippines the 4th Most Desirable Country for Adventure.
Furthermore, the Tourism Promotions Board, an affiliated agency of the DoT in charge of marketing and promotions, received TripZilla’s Sustainability Leader of the Year for Asia.
Jordan, one of the Middle East’s historic countries, led this year’s list, followed by Peru (2nd), the United States of America (3rd) and India (5th), obtaining the final position for the top 5 worldwide wonders for adventure. The Philippines has surpassed tourist favorites Australia (6th), New Zealand (7th), Saudi Arabia (8th), South Africa (9th) and Chile (10th).
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that such accolades validate the Philippines’ position as a top-of-mind destination for all types of travelers.
“These recognitions underscore the Philippines’ stunning landscapes, vibrant culture and Filipino brand of service excellence that make for an enhanced Philippine tourism experience under the Marcos Administration,” Frasco said on Monday.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has risen to our President’s call for tourism transformation, which expands opportunities for livelihood and employment, driving the growth of the Philippine economy further,” she added.
Tripzilla announced the award on November 10th and Wanderlust on November 7th.
