Wardrobe fail prompts MTRCB to issue reminder

A RECENT attire malfunction on a live television show prompted the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on Thursday to issue a memorandum reminding televised show producers to secure the performance clothing of their talents.
Addressed to all television (TV) networks, blocktimers, program producers and distributors, MTRCB’s reminder urges all concerned to ensure that the clothing worn by talents is secure and appropriate for their performances.
MTRCB Chairman Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio pointed out that the MTRCB is well aware that these malfunctions are unintentional, but, given the frequency of such events, the Board believes it is necessary to issue a reminder.
“Be reminded that any more similar occurrences in the future will be dealt with more sternly,” Sotto-Antonio said.
Actress Regine Tolentino appeared on the July 14 episode of “It’s Showtime” wearing a fitted green crop top, shorts and knee-high boots. During her all-out performance, her attire “malfunctioned.”
“We had a short time preparing for the live performance that my staff from Rta Arlene and Mama Otet from ‘It’s Showtime’ were still securing my costume seconds before going on stage,” Tolentino said in her Instagram post.
“Because of the rush and stress before hitting the stage, the other nipple tape was not secured properly, but the costume itself was super safe. And I had a costume mishap that I discovered halfway through my performance,” she added.
A “wardrobe malfunction” is a clothing failure that exposes a person’s private parts.
Several actresses, including Marian Rivera and Anne Curtis, have had previous experiences with wardrobe malfunctions.
Also, the MTRCB said that “Parental Guidance” (PG) must be superimposed on screen at all times during the broadcast of live television programs, including talk shows and noontime variety shows, pursuant to Section 8, Chapter 5 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Presidential Decree 1986.
