BIÑAN CITY: A man claiming to be a high-ranking officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was arrested after authorities found in his POSSESSION ASSORTED fiREARMS AND HUNDREDS of ammunition during the implementation of search warrant here on Saturday, November 18.

Personnel of the CIDG Laguna Provincial Field Unit (PFU), Philippine National Police (PNP) and AFP teams discovered and confiscated about 38 assorted firearms, different magazines and hundreds of ammunition for different calibers during a raid in an alleged “army training ground” in this city.

Police said several residences at Amsterdam St., Town and Country, Barangay Langkiwa were raided, leading to the arrest of Jose Francisco Ramos 3rd, the subject of the search warrant, Mark Sales and Darwin Darwin Regonis.

Ramos introduced himself as a high official of the AFP. He claimed to have recruited through Facebook individuals who want to join the Philippine Wildlife Sentinel Unified Command (PWSUC).

activity is affiliated with the Department of Environment of Natural Resources.

A check with the 1303rd Defense Regional Community of the Philippine Army revealed that Ramos is not an AFP reservist and has no records of assignment, nor is he in the roster of troops of AFP’s Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (NCR).

Verification with DENR-4A also disclosed that PWSUC is not affiliated or connected with DENR-4A.

The arrested persons and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG Laguna PFU for documentation and proper disposition.

The search warrant was issued by Judge Agripino Bravo of the Lucena City Regional Trial Court in relation to a violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the “Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act.”
