ILOILO: The Police Regional Office 6 has scored anew in its campaign against illegal drugs following the confiscation of 355 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P2.4 million in Bingawan town here on Sunday, November 19.

The illegal drugs were seized by Bingawan Municipal Police Station and the Iloilo Provincial Office Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit that conducted the buy-bust at around 2:00 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion, Bingawan.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Menandro Gililang, identified as a high-value individual and a resident of Barangay Balabag in Santa Barbara town.

Gililang was apprehended after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P20,000 to an undercover agent.

Police operatives recovered 14 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money and other nondrug items.

Gililang is now detained and will face charges for the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”

According to police, Gililang has no previous arrests but has been under the watch for working as an alleged runner of Crismark Blancaflor, a drug gang leader of Bingawan, Iloilo.

Blancaflor, alongside John Valentin Remegio, was arrested in a buy-bust which yielded P13.7 million worth of shabu in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on August 30 this year.
