Baguio employees told to give courteous service

GABY B. KEITH

BAGUIO CITY: Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed City Council Resolution 620, series of 2023 which mandates all public officials and employees here to practice courtesy in public offices through a simple greeting to their clients.

Magalong cited the new city ordinance during a recent Senior Citizens Official For-A-Day (Scofad), where the Scofad Council adopted Scofad councilor Elma Buaquen’s proposed measure.

The city ordinance is in conformity with the Republic Act 6713 or the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” which states that government employees shall extend prompt, courteous and adequate service to the public.

“Basic courtesy is a must for every public official and employee, especially to the entire population whom they serve,” the resolution said.

“This basic practice of courtesy serves as a foundation of a good and harmonious relationship,” the resolution added.

The resolution stressed that a simple greeting when one enters any public office is a start of establishing rapport with clients and also creates a positive impression that helps them feel valued and increase their overall satisfaction.

“It would be preferential if the vernacular language will be used as this will give identity and a welcoming nature to the client. Filipino, as our national language, can also be used as a norm in greeting clients when entering public offices,” the measure stressed.
