VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo announced on Friday the launch of a nongovernment organization (NGO) in July that will address the needs of families in the country’s remotest and poorest areas.

Robredo made the announcement during a thanksgiving event, dubbed “Tayo ang Liwanag,” which she and Sen. Francis “Kiko”

Pangilinan hosted for their campaign volunteers at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City.

“Inaanunsyo ko ngayon ang target natin, sa unang araw ng Hulyo, ilulunsad natin ang Angat Buhay NGO. Meron na tayong template nito kahit maliit lang ang pondo at makinarya sa tanggapan ng pangalawang pangulo (I’m announcing now that we plan to launch the Angat Buhay NGO on July 1, and we already have the template at the Office of the Vice President, despite little funding and machinery),” Robredo said during her speech.

Angat Buhay Program in October 2016 as her contribution in the fight against poverty. The program intends to bring together public and private sector organizations, as well as individuals to address the needs of poor families.

“Itutuloy natin ang mga handang tumulong sa mga nangangailangan (We will connect those who can help with those who are in need),” she added.

Robredo had called her presidential bid a “people’s campaign,” emphasizing her supporters’ efforts in organizing rallies coordinated by local chapters of the volunteer-run Robredo People’s Council (RPC) and Team Leni Robredo.

Even the term “kakampink,” a combination of the Filipino word “kakampi” (ally) and “pink,” was coined by Robredo’s supporters.

“Itutuloy natin ang ating pagsasama-sama, bubuuin natin ang pinakamalawak na volunteer network sa kasaysayan ng ating bansa (We shall maintain our solidarity and build the largest volunteer network in our country’s history),” Robredo emphasized.

However, Robredo made no mention of conceding, stating that all specific flaws in the election are being reviewed and checked by their experts and legal counsel.

Based on the Commission on Election returns, Robredo is a far second from former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the presidential race with the count almost over.
