PETROWIND Energy Inc. (PWEI), a unit of PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC), said Sunday that it had started the second phase of its Nabas Wind Power Project in Nabas-Malay, Aklan, which is scheduled for completion by next year.
The firm said this would increase its energy production capacity from 36 megawatts (MW) to 50 MW. Six wind turbine generators will be added to the existing 18 units.
PWEI said it had secured all permits and clearances from the Department of Energy, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, local government units, and other regulatory agencies.
“The commencement of this project underscores our commitment to help address the growing demand for power in the Visayas grid while helping foster sustainable development in the countryside and long-term partnerships with our stakeholders,” PetroGreen senior manager Yrel Ventura said.
Parent firm PERC’s net income during the first nine months of 2023 rose to P873.97 million from P677.05 million while revenues also climbed to P1.69 billion from P1.26 billion.
PetroEnergy shares last closed at P4.90 apiece on November 16.
