ECHAGUE, Isabela: A new partnership between a university here and a South Korean-based company is set to introduce green and sustainable research and development in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley).

To do this, a formal agreement was forged between the Isabela State University (ISU) and the Korean BioGet Inc. to collaborate for research and technology deployment on smart agriculture, renewable energy and waste-toenergy technology.

According to the university website, ISU and BioGet under the partnership that will link the Cagayan Valley region to the world’s efforts on technologically driven waste disposal, and find means for alternative and renewable energy resources.

Dr. Hwansoo Jung, BioGet chief executive officer, said their collaboration will make these technologies more efficient.

Last month, the meeting between Jung and ISU President Dr. Ricmar Aquino highlighted the prospects of green technology for local deployment.

Jung led a South Korean delegation on a three-day trip in surveying the Cagayan Valley’s primary industrial plants for biomass energy.

Aquino has assured the university’s commitment to the initiative. “We will dedicate a pool of resources from the university’s agriculture, information technology and bioengineering programs for research and development ventures,” he said.

Aquino said ISU will also link its initial studies on renewable energy as working data for the undertaking.
