Perpetual downs Arellano for 3rd straight win

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta took down Arellano University 94-81 for its third straight win and sixth overall in the 16th FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup at the FilOil EcoOil Center on Thursday, May 25.

John Abis provided the muscle down low for the Altas by churning out 13 points and 17 rebounds and Arthur Roque was just as impressive with 20 markers and seven boards.

Marcus Nitura got busy with 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks even as John Boral added 13 points and four rebounds for the Altas who raised their win-loss record in the tournament to 6-1.

Perpetual Help pulled away from Arellano U with six minutes remaining in the game and the Chiefs never recovered from a 11-3 rally by the Altas.

Rey Barcuma delivered the dagger as he capped the rally with a jumper, 36 seconds left in the game.

Lars Sunga led Arellano with 25 points and eight rebounds while Sebastian Valencia chipped in 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists for the Chiefs who remained winless in five games.

In another game, Far Eastern University (FEU) demolished First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) Colleges 95-58.

Luke Felipe heated up from beyond the arc as he sank seven of his 10 triples in the game and shot 10-of-14 from the field to finish with a game-high 27 points for the Tamaraws, who recovered from a 54-55 setback to St. Clare on Saturday, May 20.

Rojan Montemayor, likewise, came through and poured a near double-double performance of 15 points and nine rebounds plus three assists for good measure.

Aeron Bagunu added 12 points and four rebounds and Cholo

Anonuevo chipped in eight points, eight boards, four assists, and three steals for FEU, which improved to 2-3.

FEU also outrebounded FAITH, 45-24, and scored 25 second chance points compared to zero from the Bravehearts.

Lloyd Dimawala led FAITH with 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists and Steven de Castro collected 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

James Andrey Llamado turned in eight markers, three rebounds, and three assists for the Bravehearts, who stayed winless at 0-6.
