HONDA Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) officially launched the new generation Honda CR-V, also serving as a major step for the brand’s move toward electrification. The all-new CR-V is headlined by the CR-V 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT full hybrid variant, and another version as the first CR-V in the Philippines to feature a potent turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC gasoline engine.

The top-of-the-line CR-V features a fullhybrid system combining Honda’s gasoline internal combustion engine (ICE) and electrification technologies with an array of advanced technologies to achieve exceptionally low fuel consumption while offering astounding driving pleasure.

Powering the full-hybrid electric all-new CR-V is a four-cylinder 2.0-liter Direct Injection Atkinson Cycle engine that is mated to two electric motors: the traction motor and the generation motor. The ICE is rated to output 148 PS and 183 Nm torque, while the electric motors put out 184 PS and 335 Nm of torque. The all-new CR-V e:HEV operates with its electric motors on low to high speeds, and utilizes full ICE mode for high-speed cruising.

The e:HEV is a self-charging system.

This, as the CR-V e:HEV harvests energy through the regenerative braking system and traction motor by means of braking and deceleration, as well as recovering friction losses. The hybrid system’s battery can also be charged with the ICE serving as a generator.

Aside from its top-range e:HEV variant, another first in the Philippine market all-new CR-V is the turbocharged gasoline variant powered by a 1.5-liter direct injection double overhead camshaft VTEC engine. Available in the 1.5 V Turbo CVT (continuously variable transmission) and 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD (all wheel drive), these all-new CR-V variants feature new high-efficiency, high-response turbocharger, and enhanced exhaust system that helps the engine maintain peak power over a wider power band. The gasoline ICE-powered all-new CR-Vs are rated to output 190 PS and 240 Nm of torque, making these the most powerful gas-powered CR-V to date.

As for fuel efficiency, the all-new Honda CR-V e:HEV promises up to 29.4 kpl in city driving and 16.4 kpl city driving for the VTEC Turbo gas-powered CR-V.

The full hybrid e:HEV top variant and the potent 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine options are not just the impressive features in the all-new CR-V. The latest CR-V is equipped with the latest generation of Honda Sensing driver-assistive technology across variants. The all-new CR-V features a new front sensor camera that has a wider field of view of 90 degrees and a new radar system with a field of view of 120 degrees.

Also new to the CR-V is the Honda Connect.
