VOLVO Philippines is gearing up to launch two exciting, all-electric models this October: the pure electric Volvo C40 Recharge Twin and the XC40 Recharge Twin. These electrifying models are set to grace Philippine roads in the fourth quarter of this year, marking a significant step toward Volvo Cars’ ambition of becoming a fully-electric car company by 2030.

“We are thrilled to introduce two purely electrifying models — the Volvo C40 and the Volvo XC40. These models embody Volvo Cars’ commitment to sustainable mobility and our vision for the future of electric driving in the Philippines,” said lawyer Albert Arcilla.

Known as the “twins,” the pure electric Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge share striking similarities that reflect the Volvo DNA running through their electric veins. These two models share identical dimensions and ride on the same platform. Under the hood, both feature twin motors with 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque, delivering impressive all-wheel drive (AWD) performance. They are equipped with an in-house developed 183-kilowatt (kW) permanent magnet e-motor on the rear axle and a new 117-kW asynchronous electric motor on the front axle.

This powerful configuration, coupled with an 82kWh battery pack and enhanced battery cooling efficiency, allows the XC40 Recharge Twin Motor AWD to achieve an impressive range of up to 537 kilometers on a single charge (WLTP). The C40 Recharge Twin Motor AWD also sees a significant improvement in range, now reaching 549 kilometers, up from 447 kilometers (WLTP) at its global launch.

Driving the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge is sure to turn heads. These twin Swedish stunners boast cutting-edge design and a modern aesthetic. A new front bumper and frameless grille plate align the all-electric XC40 Recharge with the Volvo C40 Recharge, representing Volvo Cars’ electrification journey.

The signature Thor’s Hammer headlights are enhanced with state-of-the-art pixel LED light technology, allowing them to adapt automatically to traffic conditions while efficiently illuminating the road without dazzling other drivers. Exterior updates, including new 19-inch alloy wheels, not only enhance the models’ overall appearance but also reduce drag through their aerodynamic design.

While these models share similarities, their unique personalities shine through. One key distinction is the Volvo C40’s sloping, coupe-like roofline. The C40 also features a distinct tail light design, adding to its sleek and dynamic appearance. Due to the roof shapes, the C40 provides greater front headroom, while the XC40 offers superior rear headroom.

Volvo Cars has been at the forefront of the electrification movement, committing to sell only pure electric cars by 2030 and aiming for half of its global volume to consist of pure electric cars by 2025. Furthermore, Volvo Cars is committed to setting new industry standards in safety with its upcoming generation of models.

In the Philippines, Volvo has taken the lead by introducing plug-in hybrid vehicles and a lineup of mild hybrid vehicles in 2022. This forward-thinking approach positions Volvo as the first luxury car brand to offer a fully-electrified range in the country, solidifying its commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly mobility solutions.
